ORANGE You Glad!

Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2012

ORANGE is on everyone’s lips this season (literally)! “The Color of the Year” said Sephora.  From wild tangerine to coral. This poppy shade is spicing up boring makeup trends all over the world.

Let’s Hear it For the Boys!

It takes a lot to look HOT and now the boys are acknowledging it! With brands such as Clinique and Clarins creating successful product lines for men. It gives them the opportunity to take care of their skin and still feel “manly”. Even wearing concealer to cover up dark circles or acne scars. Men are diving into the beauty world head first.

RefreshMINT

This SPRING pastels are popping but 1 in particular that’s on everyone’s radar is MINT GREEN. Try it on your nails or as an accent with a cute ring or handbag. Refresh your look with this fun & flirty color!

Behind the Scenes: Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta presented his NEW fall 2011 collection at The Mint Museum for a charity event called “The ART of Style.” I was excited to be the lead makeup artist for the show. Here’s a V.I.PEAK backstage!

Jami Svay takes you behind the scenes the CALLA show for New York Fashion Week at Milk Studios.

Get Rid of Your Dark Circles

Bringing in the New Year can also bring on the bags. Dark circles are never cute. Here’s how you can get rid of them in a flash!

1. Use a concealer that’s 2 shades lighter than your skin tone. Apply with your fingers so your body heat melts the product, allowing it to go on smoother.

2. Place the concealer under the bag instead of directly on top of it, so you cancel out the dark shadow the bag creates.

3. Try Benefit’s “That Gal” skin brightener. Apply over the concealer to keep it in place and directly under the eye.

4. Begin the rest of your makeup routine (foundation, eyes, lips).

Kandi: The Realest Housewife of Atlanta

Kandi Burruss from The Real Housewives of Atlanta is definitely comfortable in the skin she’s in. Singer, producer, boutique owner, mother, and that’s NOT all! Launching her new “Bedroom Kandi” line of sexy, chic toys. Stay tuned for her NEW show on Bravo called “Kandi Factory” where she’ll take us deeper into the music business. I got a chance to chat with Ms. Kandi & find out her beauty must-haves and what she really hates to see on men!

1. How would you describe your personal style?

When I’m not performing I’m very laid back and casual. I wear jeans, leggings, or hooded shirts with a fly flat boot. Now if I’m doing an appearance or something I like to wear heels. I’m so short and they give you an extra little something.

2. Would you say being on the hit Bravo show “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” has helped or hurt your musical career?

It’s think it’s helped… The show has brought awareness to my music. A lot of people didn’t know what I’ve been doing since Xscape with my writing and producing. I went on tour and opened for Fantasia. The crowd stood up on their feet to sing “Fly Above” with me. I don’t feel my label at the time promoted me as much as they should so, I know they heard the song from watching the show.

3. What’s the makeup “must have” you wouldn’t be caught dead without?
A good concealer. I have naturally dark circles under my eyes, people think I’m tired but, I’m not. I like M.A.C’s NC 50 and of course lip gloss! Also a satin bonnet for your hair so it’s not all fuzzy when you wake up.

4. What trend would you like to see go away?

Skinny jeans on men! I’m not a fan. I saw a dude the other day with stretch pants on. I wasn’t feeling it!

5. What’s next for Kandi Burruss?

Right after the RHOA season check out my new show “Kandi Factory”. I’m also executive producer. It will teach you even more about the music business and what it really takes to make someone hot.
